FoRISK Strategic and Operational Work Programme

The FoRISK Strategic Work Programme 2025–2030 and Operational Work Programme 2025–2026 sets out the shared framework guiding FoRISK’s activities during its establishment phase. Developed in close cooperation with the FoRISK Steering Committee and Secretariat, the Programme responds to the growing impacts of forest disturbances across pan-Europe and outlines how FoRISK supports countries in strengthening forest resilience within the context of sustainable forest management.
The Programme defines FoRISK’s strategic direction and translates it into concrete, coordinated actions. It describes FoRISK’s role as a science-policy-practice platform for knowledge exchange, capacity building and transboundary cooperation, addressing forest risks linked to wildfires, windstorms and biotic agents. Central to this approach is collaboration among policymakers, researchers and practitioners, supported by dedicated expert groups and a flexible Rapid Response tool to address acute and emerging forest disturbance challenges.
Together, the strategic and operational components provide a roadmap for building a strong and connected FoRISK network, enhancing evidence-based decision-making and supporting adaptation to climate change. Feel free to explore the full Work Programme below to learn more about FoRISK’s objectives, priority activities, governance structure and planned actions over the coming years.
